Natural Ways To Lower Cholesterol With Foods

There are various ways to lower your cholesterol. If you have a high cholesterol reading then you have probably been told that the best way to reduce this reading is to change what you eat and to get more exercise. This article will point out 6 ways that this can be achieved that are simple and easy to do.
Drinking two glasses of orange juice each day can help. Buy orange juice that has plant sterols in it. They actively reduce the amount of cholesterol that can be absorbed into the intestine. There are different brands of orange juice on the market with these ingredients in them. Orange juice not only tastes good, it is good for you and can help to reduce your cholesterol. Alternatively, if you don't like orange juice or would prefer a bit of variety then try cranberry juice. It will have a similar affect to orange juice. The same can be said of grapefruit and grape juice.
Try eating a number of small meals throughout the day rather than three main meals a day. Research suggests that people who eat several small meals during the day had lower cholesterol levels than people who ate larger meals either twice or three times a day. It is also believed that accompanying your evening meal with a glass of red wine can also benefit you.
Wholegrain food products are thought to be good for reducing the amount of low density lipoproteins (LDL) in the body. LDL are responsible for transporting cholesterol round the body causing things like thickening arteries and other cardiovascular problems over time. Try to use whole grain bread when making sandwiches or as an accompaniment with a meal. If you put butter on the bread then swap to spreads that contain plant sterols.
It is thought that coffee can contribute to increasing cholesterol levels. A tip, if you can't give up your favorite blend of coffee, is to use paper filters. These filters will remove the substances the make cholesterol high. If you want an alternative to coffee then consider black tea. Studies have shown that a few glasses of black tea a day can lower cholesterol in people.
Use olive oil as much as possible. This could be in cooking or on salads. You could even use it in place of butter or margarine on toast, scones and muffins. This is a common way to eat bread in southern European countries like Spain, Italy and parts of France where heart disease is one of the lowest in Europe.
Incorporate oatmeal into your diet. Porridge for breakfast springs to mind if you want to eat oatmeal. It is a soluble fiber that reduces the amount of LDL in the body much like wholegrain foodstuffs. Add a bit of cinnamon to your porridge. Cinnamon is thought to be good for reducing blood sugar levels and also to lower cholesterol.
These are simple changes that you can make in your daily life that are fairly easy to implement. You may not see a reduction your cholesterol levels overnight but in time it will lower. Try to implement an exercise program into your lifestyle too.

Knowing The Value And Importance Of Orange Juice

The botanical name given is for the common sweet or Malta orange which was introduced into Europe from China and is now grown in many hot countries especially the U.S.A. Among other species are the Citrus aurantium which is the bitterly aromatic Seville orange and the most scented, the Citrus bergamia, from which the orange bergamot is prepared.
The first greenhouses were called 'orangeries' because the fruit is damaged by even a slight frost, and the nobles of seventeenth-century England and France would not allow so unpredictable a thing as the weather to stand between them and their enjoyment of this delicious fruit.
The orange has a modest mineral content but a good ripe fruit will have at least 50mg of vitamin C in 100g (4oz), a smallish fruit. There are also plenty of the interesting and probably important bioflavonoids. There is much experience which strongly suggests that when vitamin C is taken, for example as an anti-infective, the effect is reinforced in the presence of these bioflavonoids.
In nature they are often found naturally occurring in vitamin C-rich fruits such as rose hips and green peppers. Other names for the bioflavonoids include rutin and hesperidin. They have been used in concentrated form for the treatment of high blood-pressure, as anti-coagulants and as part of the treatment for colds.
Orange juice is very nutritious and pleasant to take at any time, but it is a good idea to take a regular glass daily during the winter months to make certain that you are having enough vitamin C. The fat soluble vitamins, A, D and E can be stored in the body, but you need your vitamin C regularly.
Kevin Pederson has been managing a number of natural home remedies websites which have information on all the natural and home made remedies with the value and benefits of orange juice.

Wood Stain and Orange Juice Stain Removal

Your favorite piece of furniture or hardwood floor has a new challenge to overcome. Now the challenge came in the form of tipping of an orange juice glass, which left a clear mark on wood stain coated hardwood floor. Wood stain orange juice stain removal is not that a tough task as you might think.
Just rub the area with a cloth dipped in warm water. Also add some liquid soap to the water so that the stain is easily removed from wood stained furniture. You want to retain the wood stain but not the orange juice stain, right? This is exactly what you can do before it is too late.
If the orange juice stain is pretty old, you will need to repeat the process a few times.
What if orange juice spill over to your carpet? It is common accident at party places and home gatherings. Orange juice can leave permanent marking on carpets if you ignore it. The first thing you can do is get a towel paper to blot the orange juice away, without pushing it into the carpet.
Do it quickly before it is too late. If you can, turn the carpet inside out so that you can flush the stain from inside with cold water. Use hot or warm water to remove the stain as it may quickly fasten to the fabric. Anyway it is not a big problem. Either spray carpet cleaner or pour some water with liquid soap lather.
Pour more water and blot the water till the soap residue is removed. Leave it for drying. If you still find orange juice stain in carpet, you will need to use some carpet cleaning shampoo.
Whenever you want to clean any surface, always start with cold water. Rub away the area with a cloth dipped on water. Do not use too much of water if the surface is wood. Wood stain covering protects the wood. Fresh stains on such surface are easily removed without much effort.
Regular cleaning, possibly on a daily basis or at least two times a week will help you manage the carpet with as little stain as possible. If stain or dust starts to accumulate, it can become very difficult to clean.
There are also times when you need to go for a professional carpet cleaning service. You simply do not like to spend big bucks on carpet cleaning equipments and may not have the expertise in safely and efficiently using carpet cleaning chemicals. In that case you hire a professional service to look into the matters of carpet cleaning.
Wood stain orange juice stain removal rarely qualify as a good reason to hire professional cleaning service. Try to immediately get rid of the problem to ensure your household displayable items wear its new look for many years. Get more Carpet Cleaning Tips from a Professional Carpet Cleaner.

How to Select the Right Cherry Juice Concentrate For You

Tart cherry juice concentrate is fast becoming the natural choice for legions of arthritis and gout pain suffers. So with all of the sources and varieties of tart cherry juice available, what should consumers look for to make a wise buying decision?
What to look for when selecting a tart cherry juice product:
There are five critical areas consumers should look for when making a tart cherry juice concentrate purchase: type of cherry, quality, taste, packaging and a sediment-free guarantee.
Type of Cherry: The majority of research you read about the joint pain fighting ability of tart cherries and cherry juice has been conducted on the Montmorency tart cherry. While several other varieties of cherries exist including black cherry, Balaton and Rainer, the type of cherry that has most amount of published research is the Montmorency tart cherry. Although the Montmorency tart cherry juice is slightly more expensive than black cherry juice, the research backs up the ability of the tart cherry to fight joint pain due to arthritis and gout.
Quality: Not all cherry juice concentrate products are the same. One very important measurement of quality for tart cherry juice concentrate is this brix level (pronounced bricks). This is a measurement of the amount of natural sugar in the product. The highest marker for tart cherry juice is 68 brix. Be sure to know the brix level in any cherry product you buy. This information is usually printed on the label or published on the website. If the brix level is lower than 68 brix, you should reconsider the overall quality of the product.
Taste: Like all consumable products, taste is very important. Cherry juice is available in plastic bottles, aluminum cans and glass bottles. Based on research funded by the cherry industry, participants in the study preferred the taste of cherry juice packaged in glass bottles over plastic and aluminum bottles. Based upon results of the study, people indicated the cherry juice packed in glass bottles offered a fresher taste. One of the reasons could be the fact that glass bottles prevent leaching. Leaching is a result of products being packed on plastic and the product itself actually absorbs plastic molecules from the plastic bottle. Leaching is not a concern for cherry juice packed on glass.
Packaging: Two types of cherry juice packaging for cherry juice products are available: cold-packed and hot packed. Here is a basic definition of each:
Cold-packed - The cherry juice concentrate is pumped from a 52 gallon drum and bottled into individual bottles. Also, the companies selling cold-packed cherry juice indicate cold-packed cherry juice must be refrigerated. That is they the majority of tart cherry juice concentrate products are only available in the refrigerated section of your local grocery stores. Cold-packing is also the less expensive way to bottle cherry juice concentrate since some companies simply fill their bottles over a utility sink.
Hot-packed - The cherry juice is pumped from a 52 gallon drum, flash pasteurized, and then packed into individual bottles. Hot-packed cherry juice concentrate is shelf-stable and doesn't need refrigeration during shipping, storage or until the product is open. After the product is open it does need to be refrigerated. Hot-packed cherry juice can be shipped without refrigeration and is shelf stable. The hot-pack process is very similar to the canning process where all of the oxygen is removed from the bottle.
Unfortunately, some companies lead the consumer to belief that cold-packed cherry juice is never heated (pasteurized). This is simply not true. Cherry juice concentrate is packed in 52 gallon drums and prior to the cherry juice being packed in these drums the product is flash pasteurized. So if a company simply pumps the cherry juice from 52 gallon drums and fills individual the cherry juice has been heated. If a company indicates that their product is cold-packed and has not been heated, they may not be telling the whole truth.
Stability: Product stability is vital not only for shipping purposes but also storage. The majority of companies selling cherry juice are selling cold-packed in plastic bottles. This means the product should be refrigerated during shipping and storage. Yet many of these companies freely ship cold-packed cherry juice across the country in unrefrigerated cardboard boxes with statements saying the product must be refrigerated when the product is received. This simply doesn't make since. It would be similar to shipping a gallon of milk from New Jersey to Texas in a cardboard box and asking the customer to place it in the refrigerator when it arrives. Hot-packed cherry juice can be shipped without refrigeration and stored without refrigeration.
Sediment-Free Guarantee: Sedimentation is a concern for many cherry juice drinks. Sedimentation occurs when the concentrate breaks apart and thick residue settles on the bottle of the bottle. Sedimentation may be a result of poor quality concentrate or a poor bottling process. Look for cherry juice products that offer a sediment free guarantee.

Lemon Juice Detox - the Ultimate Lemonade Cleanse

Looking for information on the lemon juice detox? The ultimate lemonade cleanse with lemon and cayenne pepper cleanser, as well as other ingredients, is one of the best and most effective ways of cleansing your system and shedding unwanted pounds.
All Those Toxins
As humans, we consume a large amount of toxins and chemicals in our daily diet. Impurities such as preservatives can be found in canned goods as well as other harmful toxins in various food groups. If you do not use a water filtration system in your home, then your water could be filled with chemicals and lead.
In order to cleanse your system, there are various ways of fasting. The most common is a strict water only diet. However, this is often too harsh and very difficult to continue with after only a few days. Instead, you can try the lemon juice detox diet.
The dieting regimen has recently become popular among celebrities and those who want to lose a large amount of weight in a short time period.
The Original Master Cleanse
The original ultimate lemonade cleanse, also referred to as the "Master Cleanse", was first introduced in 1941 by Stanley Burroughs. The diet was reintroduced to the modern audience by Peter Glickman. He made the master cleanse program popular again by referencing to it in his book: 'Lose Weight, Have More Energy, and Be Happier in 10 Days'. Glickman did change some of the specifics of the diet in order to target the most common readers.
The lemon juice detox consists of drinking sea salt water in the morning, followed by a mixture of lemon and cayenne pepper cleanser, as well as a few more ingredients, ending with a laxative tea at night. The sea salt water and the laxative tea help to get the bowels moving.
The Diet
Making a homemade lemonade cleanse is very easy to do at home. Follow the recipe below for the lemonade detox diet:
1. Drink 32 ounces of sea salt mixed with water every morning. Keep that you cannot eat for the next 7 to 10 days in order for the diet to be effective.
2. Mix a small amount of cayenne pepper with lemon juice, Grade B maple syrup, and filtered water to drink in place of your normal lunch schedule. If you have an urge to chew something, ice is a wonderful substitute.
3. For dinner, drink a laxative tea or another natural laxative such as psyllium husk. It is better to drink this before going to bed.
The lemon juice detox recipe may seem very easy to follow, however, it is a diet that needs to be committed to. The first two days are the most difficult to overcome due to the fact that you are having to omit food from your daily diet. Once you are able to successfully get past the first few days of this ultimate lemonade cleanse with lemon and cayenne pepper cleanser, you will immediately see results.
Shed more than 20 pounds in less than 2 weeks! Flush out nasty, disease causing toxins! Feel and look years younger. Beyonce, Jared Leto, Robin Quivers and other celebrities have done it. Zrii - The Juice That Restores Your Youth

If there's something that can add more value to your life each day, and can induce you to count the life you have in your years and not the years you have in your life, then it is Zrii. To put it simply, Zrii is a juice. But it is not just any juice; it is a wellspring of life. An extremely large number of people are using Zrii drink each day of their lives, and are finding out that their life is just getting better and better.
The juice is made with a very careful combination of herbs. Each of the herbs selected have specific functions to perform for the human body, and when taken together, they act as great rejuvenators for the human system, making it function at more than its optimum level. This might seem to be a very tall order, but Zrii makes it possible quite easily. This brilliant red bottle of amalaki juice packs within itself 5,000 years of herbal study, making use of what we know and respect today as the science of Ayurveda.
The six herbs used to make up Zrii are schizandra (the magnolia vine), turmeric (haldi in Ayurveda), basil (tulsi in Ayurveda), Indian Gooseberry (the celebrated amalaki in Ayurveda), jujube, chebulic myroblans (haritaki in Ayurveda) and ginger (adraka in Ayurveda). All of these ingredients have a host of functions for the human body, and if taken together, there is no human illness that they can prevent. The main rejuvenator in this group is amalaki, which is single-handedly enough to improve the quality of life.
What is the amalaki actually? It is the Indian Gooseberry, a green colored berry that is indigenous to India. This almost translucent berry is also known in India as amla, and has the botanical name of Emblica officinalis. It is known as one of the richest sources in the world of ascorbic acid, which is Vitamin C. Just chewing one complete amlaki berry is enough to supply the entire amount of Vitamin C that is required for a whole day.
Vitamin C performs several important functions in the human body. One of its chief functions is to help in relieving stress from the body by releasing certain stress-boosting hormones. In this capacity, amla becomes a wonderful agent to stabilize the mental state of a person. Amla also has powerful effects on the digestive system. It is very effective in cases of constipation. It can absorb the excess fats that accumulate in the body, which directly helps in weight loss.
But that's not all. Amalaki is actually known to prolong the life of an individual. Ancient Indian sadhus who performed austerities in the wild would subsist only on berries and fruits, and one of the chief berries that helped them in their sustenance and kept them free from diseases was the amla.
Amla is also a very essential component of the highly acclaimed triphala mixture, which is an Ayurvedic product formulation consisting of dried powders of the amalaki, haritaki (a component present in Zrii) and bibhitaki. Triphala is often referred to as the powder with thousand cures.
Today, the vast powers of the amalaki are available to you. Zrii brings these great powers to you, in a way that the world has never experienced before. Keeping the amazing curative powers of the amla intact, Zrii blends several other herbs in it in a highly-researched proportion. Herbal experts who have studied the components of the Zrii juice maintain that the overall formulation of the juice will act on the human body much better than its individual ingredients put together. Zrii is definitely superior to the sum of its parts.
So, what can Zrii actually provide to the human system? Actually, you will not realize what you are missing in your life unless you experience the magic of Zrii health drink. The following are the least of the effects that it will have on your body:
§ It can remove stress from your body forever, and teach you what real relaxation is.
§ It can keep your body free from most diseases, especially infections.
§ It can keep your weight under check.
§ It can help you live an active lifestyle and do the things you always wanted to do.
§ It can make you fitter both physically and mentally.
§ It can prolong your life.
§ It can add much better quality to the life you are already living.
Regular usage of Zrii will make you achieve new heights in business each day, interact in a much better way with the people you meet and be more constructive and expressive to your family. These are the things that are the fundamentals of right living. In that way, Zrii drink actually takes you to a transcendental state of wellbeing.
The best part about Zrii amalaki is that it is very pleasant on the tongue. Most herbal formulations have various uncomfortable sensations on the tongue, and especially amlaki has a slight burning sensation. That is the reason why most people refrain from using these herbal medicine therapies. Zrii juice has taken care to eliminate these uncomfortable sensations. You can thus enjoy your new zestful life without undue discomfort on any of your senses.
Zrii is what can bring a new life to you today. This is one experience that every human deserves, and must take.

Do Juice Fasts Really Work?

Juice fasting has been around for quite some time. There are several kinds of fasts, from religious fasts to the kinds of fasts where you drink nothing but water for long periods of time. There are various reasons that people choose to do juice fasts. For starters, our diets consist of a lot of foods and ingredients that can clog up our bodies.
Most people do juice fasts in order to remove excess food products and animal wastes from their diets. It sounds pretty gross, but in the end it can actually have a host of health benefits for the person involved as long as they are careful and do it the right way. If you think about all of the different foods that you consume in a day, there are a lot of excess products that are thrown in the mix such as refined sugars, high fructose corn syrup, white flour and fattening animal products such as red meat, eggs, and fish.
In order to begin a juice fast, you will first need a juicer. A juicer is different than a mixer, blender or smoothie maker. You can actually search for it in the store by its given name. Juice fasts are a great way to rid the body of unnecessary toxins that are stored in the blood stream. Toxins in a persons body can cause all sorts of medical problems such as colon cancer, urinary tract infections, constipation and even bad breath. When a person sweats, they release toxins on their skin. This may or may not lead to a person getting acne or some other skin condition such as eczema. Another benefit to juice fasting is that it helps you lose weight (that is if you can stand to lose a couple of pounds).
For those people who choose to do a juice fast, who are not in need of losing excess weight, there are other options to ensure that you are always maintaining a healthy weight. There are plenty of people out there who are vehemently opposed to juice fasting because they feel that is an unhealthy way to cleanse the body of toxins. The rule of thumb for how long you should stay on a juice fast is to stay on it as long as you have been free of detoxification symptoms for two whole days. These symptoms, however, can be rather severe, making one believe that the "cure is in fact worse than the disease." For each person, the juice fast will be different. Some people may be able to complete the fast for anywhere from 10 to 20 days, while for others- they may only be able to stand it for 3-4 days at best.
Some practitioners will allow a person to do the juice fast for three days of the week, only allowing the person to eat fresh fruits and/or veggies the other days. However, most (if not all) practitioners agree that among the prohibited foods are: animal flesh of any kind, fish, poultry, eggs and dairy products. Occasionally, a tablespoon of honey once a day might be allowed. It takes a lot of discipline and is recommended that you thoroughly read up on how to complete a juice fast from a trusted health expert before attempting it yourself. Doing it the wrong way may cause more problems rather than help, and you certainly don't want that.

Party-Planning - Making Cocktails for a Crowd

Whether you’re entertaining 10, 20, or even 40 or more guests, the special occasion experts at Celebrate with Style know that preparing large quantities of delicious cocktail coolers will please everyone and help you relax a bit and enjoy your party.
Some people mix large quantities of these tasty drinks in plastic storage containers or large coolers, which safety experts understandably frown on. However, you can mix these coolers in large stockpots or punch bowls, and ladle the beverages into large individual pitchers. Cover all containers and if possible, chill them in the refrigerator before guests arrive.
Another good idea: Don’t add ice to the serving bowl or pitcher. Pour coolers over ice in individual glasses. That way, you won’t dilute the drinks before anyone has had a chance to enjoy them.
For a pretty serve-yourself bar, put out pitchers or bowls and ladles for different cocktails, along with a large tray or platter holding a variety of fruit garnishes, such as pineapple wedges, lemon, lime or orange slices, and fresh ripe strawberries. Colored glasses and straws will add just the right festive touch.
Here are a number of fabulous hot weather cocktail crowd-pleasers. They’re simple to make, but elegant enough to add flair to any casual outdoor affair.
Note: We’ve figured the recipes for 40 servings—plenty for a crowd. Also, of course, be sure to have plenty of water, soda, and lots of other non-alcoholic beverages on hand.
